Hi, I’m Lee, welcome.

Low Carb Lee is my journal, chronicling my journey to good health and wellbeing through low carb, real food and a dash of joie de vivre. I am a home cook with a lifelong passion for cooking, entertaining, learning, travelling, and discovering new cultures and customs.

I live in Richmond, an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, Australia. I love the eclectic, vibrant, and cosmopolitan lifestyle, surrounded by beautiful parks and a walk away from the CBD.

If I had to choose a favourite cuisine, it would be Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food, with my go-to course salads.

Why Low Carb Lee?

My professional background is in marketing. Like most of us, I have had various iterations, from traditional marketing roles to a career break to raise my two children and my own executive relocation business. With the rise of digital marketing - websites and social media, I wanted to ‘brush up my skills’, so I embarked on a Master of Marketing and Digital Communications. During that time, as I was not working, I wanted a platform to hone my digital skills, and so Low Carb Lee was born.

Choosing the topic for my digital platform was easy - as I have always been interested in health and wellbeing. From the early 2000s and Mark Sisson’s blog, The Daily Apple, focusing on the paleo diet, to Teressa Cutter, aka The Healthy Chef and Dr Michael Mosel and intermittent fasting. As I entered middle age, despite living what most would consider a healthy lifestyle, I was struggling with a growing ‘middle-aged spread’. Maintaining my health and wellbeing to continue living a vibrant life became paramount. Initially, due to wheat intolerances, I discovered low carb and have not looked back. I now have more energy, my gut is happier, and my mind is sharper.

My goal with Low Carb Lee is to share all I have learned along my journey to help and inspire other women.

My Food Philosophy

I believe in real food, as close as possible to its original form. I avoid highly processed foods, especially those with additives, flavours, and seed oils. But I am not perfect! If I indulge in the occasional carb-rich food, I ensure it is delicious!

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style
